March 2011 Meeting: Web Single Sign-On and ColdFusion by Adam Crump
Posted by Alan Rother | Tags: Adobe , ColdFusion , Monthly Meetings
This month Adam Crump from Amkor will be in town to give us a sneek peek at his cfObjective session "Web Single Sign-On and ColdFusion"
As usual the meeting is the 4th Wednesday of the month (3/23/2011) at 6:30pm at UAT in Tempe.
Do you or your team maintain multiple ColdFusion applications for your organization? If so, chances are each one of those applications has its own login screen and associated authentication code. Maybe you’ve gone as far as standardizing on a common user directory such as LDAP or Active Directory for your authentication. What you probably haven’t done; though, and the main reason you’re interested in this session, is to provide a single authentication point for all of your ColdFusion applications throughout your organization and possibly beyond.
This session covers everything you need to know to build your own Single Sign-On solution for Web Applications (Web SSO) using ColdFusion and Shibboleth, an open-source application for federated authentication and authorization based on the Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML).
About Adam
Adam Crump is the Manager II - Web Applications at Amkor Technology. His involvement with ColdFusion goes back to version 4.5. He spends his days at Amkor architecting enterprise applications and api's to integrate the various systems involved in semiconductor packaging. During the years, he has generated a reusable finite state machine, standardized the authentication and authorization process, and propagated OO practices.
February 2011 Meeting: cfWheels presented by John C Bland II
Posted by Alan Rother | Tags: Adobe , cfWheels , ColdFusion , Monthly Meetings
Our old friend John C Bland II (http://www.fastkast.com) will be presenting on the ColdFusion Framework cfWheels (http://cfwheels.org)
cfWheels is one of my favorite new ColdFusion frameworks, built around the idea that frameworks should make our lives easier and conventions over configuration files (no XML files!)
John is one of our best speakers and one of the smartest guys on the planet. I highly recommend attending. He will be presenting via Adobe Acrobat Connect from Texas, so if you REALLY can't be with us for the meeting shoot me an email and I'll send the meeting room URL once we have it setup.
If you can make it in person, please shoot me(alan.rother [at] gmail dot com) a quick RSVP email so I can get a headcount for Pizza.
Here is the Acrobat Connect link for the meeting if you cannot make it in person

End of Year Contest
Posted by Alan Rother | Tags: Adobe , ColdFusion , Contest , Monthly Meetings
It's nearing the end of the year and lives get busy and time starts to run short. As much as we'd lov to have another meeting this year, it just doesn't look like we'll have time. So instead we've decided to have what should be a fun little contest that anyone should be able to participate in. It doesn't matter if you're the most advanced programmer in town or a total newbie still working on your first application. You can enter this contest, it shouldn't take more than an hour of your time.
